Principal's Message

Greetings Nightingale Middle School Community-

It is my privilege and honor to begin my third year as Principal at Nightingale Middle School.  I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing with our students as well as working with all stakeholders. This year we will celebrate the school's 80th Anniversary. Happy 80th Anniversary (1937 - 2017) Florence Nightingale Middle School!

As I continue my journey at Nightingale, my main goal is to ensure that every student is provided with a quality education in a safe and supportive learning environment.  I am committed to helping all students achieve their very best.  Every student is valued and worthy of our best effort.  My personal mission is to inspire a passion for learning and my vision is to culminate students who are self-directed, insightful, articulate, culturally and technologically savvy and critical participants in our society.

Most of my teaching and administrative years has been at the middle school level thus providing me a deeper understanding of the complexities of working with middle school aged students.  This is an important and critical time of transition – moving from the elementary school experience and preparing for high school and beyond.  I strongly believe that middle school needs to be a positive experience, as these few short years will have a lasting impression on our students' academic and personal development and growth.

My door is open and I invite you to come in and be a partner as we continue being the best middle school in Northeast Los Angeles. Please stop by my office and say “hello.” You may reach me at (323) 224-4801 or via email me at rafael.gaeta@lausd.net.  I am looking forward to meeting each one of you. Go Nighthawks!!

Thank you and kind regards,

Rafael Gaeta, Ed.D.
